Lecture 5 Flashcards
axilla, Lateral cervical triangle
list the bone of the pectoral region
clavicle, sternum, ribs and scapula
3 parts of sternum
manubrium, body, xiphoid
what are the functions of the fascia of pectoral region
- defines borders 2. invests muscle 3. creates potential spaces 4. has superficial and deep layers
superficial fascia vs deep
Superficial = contains superclavicular nerves and anterior/lateral branches of the intercostal nerves
Deep = prevertebral fascia = around anterior surface of cervical vertebra +across anterior midline — deep cervical fascia , costocoracoid membrane, pectoral fascia, suspensory ligament of axilla, axillary fascia

structures of superficial fascia
superclavicular nerves and anterior/lateral branches of the intercostal nerves covers pectoralis major and minor.

list the borders of the deltopectoral triangle
Deltoid (anterior) , pectoralis major and middle 1/3 of clavicle

content of delta pectoral triangle
cephalic vein, deltopectoral lymph nodes, deltoid branch of thoroco-acromial artery

functions / attachemnt of clavipectoral fascia
- invests (covers) subclavius and pectoralis major
- attaches to clavicle and anterior thoracic wall

list structures that pierce clavipectoral fascia
cephalic vein, thoroacocromial, and lateral pectoral nerves

what is the relationship between the suspensory ligament of the axilla and the clavipectoral fascia
clavipectoral fascia later becomes the suspensory ligament of the axilla
list muscles of pectoral region
(attachements + innervation)
pectoralis major
pectoralis minor
subclavius
serratus anteiror
- all intervated by ventral spinal nerves vs brachial plexus

Clavipectoral Fascia content
cephalic vein, thoroacocromial, and lateral pectoral nerves

superfical cervial fasica + contents
Platysma muscles
superfical vein
sutaneous nerves
boundries of lateral cervical triangle
anterior =posterior border of the sternocledidomastoid (STC)
Posterior = anterior border of the trapezius
Inferior = clavicle
Roof = skin, superfical layer of the deep cervical fascia, (investing fascia) , trapezius, sternocleidomastoid

muscles of the lateral cervical triangle
splenius capitis
levator scapular
scalenus posterior
scalenus medius
scalenus anteior
Omohyoid
vascular and nerve contents of the lateral cervical triangle
External jugular vein
subclavian artery
subclavain vein
asscessory CN 11
occiptal artery
transverse cervical artery
supraclavicular
lesser occipital

origins of the spinal root and where it passes through
arise from C1-C5
Fibers pass superiorly through foramen magnum and join cranial root

origins cranial root and where it passes
arises from medulla
both roots exit through the jugular, foramen and seperate
Spinal root innervates
sternocleidomastoid
Trapezius

boundries of base of Axilla
Anterior
Posterior
medial
lateral
Anterior - pectoralis major
Posterior -latissimus dorci muscles
Medial -thoracic wall
Lateral -humerus

Boundries of Apex of Axilla
Anterior -clavicle
Posterior -suprerior border of the scapula
Medial -first rib

Boundries of the Axilla
- skin/ supperficial fascia
- anterior axillary fold
- Posterior axillary fold
- Chest wall ( serratus anterior)

boundries of Posterior axillary fold
latissimus dorci
Teres
