Axes / Planes Flashcards
Anatomical Position
- Standing erect
- arms at side and palms up (supinated)
- Toes flat on the floor and directed fwd
Why are palms directed up?
Because radius and ulna need to be parallel
Axis means and how many?
Straight line 3
Cranio -Caudal axis
Vertical Axis of rotation for medial and lateral rotation
Anterior-posterior Axis
dorsal -ventral axis of rotation
axis of roatation for abduction + adduction
Left and right axis of rotation
mhelling@kcumb.edu
Transverse axis
axis of rotation for flexion and extension
Median (Sagital) Plane
Cranio-caudal Axis + Anterior-posterior axis
**symmetrical
* flexion + extension
Parasagital Plane
Vertical plane that passes through the body at right angles to medial plane
** parallel to median
Frontal Coronal Plane
Cranio-caudal Axis + right -left axis
movement of adduction and abduction
divides body into ventral + dorsal sections
Transverse Plane
divides body into upper and lower portion
formed by left-right axis and anterior-posterio axis
movement= internal/external rotation
( pronation/ supination )
** internal medial rotaion.
**external lateral rotation
Radial deviation of the wrist
abduction of wrist
Ulnar deviation of the wrist
adduction of the wrist
inversion
movement of the foot so that the sole faces in a medial direction
eversion
movement of the foot so that the sole faces in a lateral direction
dorsiflexion
movement of the ankle joint of the dorsum of the foot towards the anterior surface of the lef or upward
