A

Less than Truck Load (LTL)/groupage networks undertake the collation of consignments from a number of different sources to make up a full vehicle load. Services often depart on a set schedule.

What is full truck load (FTL)?

A

Full Truck Load (FTL or TL) is defined as any consignment that fills a whole truck. Operators usually undertake the movement of truckloads on a point-to-point basis, direct to the customer from the consignor.

A

It is the ability of drivers from outside one country to collect a load and deliver it within that country. It is limited in Europe - drivers can carry three loads in seven days, before they must return to their home country.

What were some of the influences of World War II on the development of the international airline industry?

A
  • World War II was very important to the continued development of aviation.
  • Military training resulted in many pilots who had experience with night flying, poor flying conditions, and flying large planes.
  • United States also developed a worldwide network of meteorological stations.
  • Two technological developments from WW2 were radar and jet aircraft
  • After the war, virtually every nation developed its state-run airline, and used US built DC-3s for the job.
