Describe the difference between type 1 and type 2b muscle fiber

A

Type 1- Better for endurance (does not generate a lot of power)
Type 2- Specialized for tons of energy burst (fatigues rapidly)

What is muscle plasticity in response to chronic changes in behavior?

A
  • Increase in mitochondria volume (more atp can be generated aerobically)
  • Increase in lipid droplets (often used to power long distance endurance exercises)
  • Increase in number of capillaries surrounding muscle fibers after endurance training
  • left ventricle of the heart becomes stronger (increase in stroke volume)
