What type of data is most likely used for personality assessments?
Mostly S data and sometimes B data. I or L data rarely used
What are “projective” tests?
Assumes self-report is generally invalid.
Implicit association tests (IAT)
Rorshach
Thematic Apperception Tests (TAT)
What are “objective” tests?
Assumes self-report is generally valid
Questionnaires and rating scales
What is an Implicit Association Test (IAT)?
Word association.
Respondents who implicitly associate two words (concepts) will respond faster with concepts that are paired.
What is the rationale behind a projective test?
Responses to indeterminate stimuli reveal underlying psychological biases, such as needs, motives, feelings, experiences and thoughts.
Mostly associated with psychoanalysis.
