A

one is exclusive right to make copies/reproduce the work of an author and two as a way of protecting the author in terms of exploitation of the work

what are the differences between ideas and expression

A
  • a minimum amount of skill and labour needs to be put into the work
    -copyright protects the authors own expression of the underlying idea
    -ideas are generally left unprotected to be used by all
  • expression of the idea needs to be original
  • originality is not defined by the berne convention left to each member country
    -attempts to balance competing interests
    -the expression of the idea needs to exist in a permanent form to attract copyright
