Attitudes
Attitudes are evaluative statements/ judgements concerning objects, people or events
What are the 3 components of attitudes?
Cognitive - the opinion or belief segments of an attitude
Affective - The emotional or feeling segment of an attitude
Behavioural - An intention to behave in a certain way toward someone or something
Cognitive dissonance
Any incompatibility between two or more attitudes or between behaviour and attitudes
What are the major job attributes?
- Job Satisfaction
- Job involvement
- Psychological empowerment
- Organisational commitment
- Perceived organisational support
- Employee engagment
Job involvement (Job attribute)
Degree of psychological identification with the job where perceived performance is important to self-worth
Psychological empowerment (Job attribute)
Belief in the degree of influence over the job, competence, job meaningfulness and autonomy
Organisational Commitment and it’s 3 dimensions (Job attributes)
Identifying with a particular organisation and its goals, while wishing to maintain membership in the organisation
- Affective: emotional attachment to organisation
- Continuance commitment: economic value of staying
- Normative: moral or ethical obligations
Perceived Organisational support POS (Job attributes)
Degree to which employees believe that the organisation values their contribution and cares about their well-being
Employee engagement and it’s 3 characteristics(Job attributes)
The degree of involvement with, satisfaction with and enthusiasm for the job
