- the law has to be CLEAR 1st, so people know what is doable and what is not doable, permissible and not permissible .

When to write laws?
Only when NEEDED
- The more laws the more problems
- simplicity is best when creating laws

Retroactive (means taking effect from a date in the past.)
-retroactivity is unacceptable
When there is no rule of law..
There is NO democracy

IMPLEMENTATION is very important as well as CLARITY in the books.
What is culture?
Culture is the collectivity of a group of people in society and underline.
-culture is the center of values, attitudes, beliefs, orientations, and assumptions widespread mapping people of society.
Where do you pick up culture?
1st at HOME, then SCHOOL, then CHURCH, then SPORTS, etc.
Cultural change
Culture and values change over time.
Culture plays 4 key functions
-Supplies people with skills needed to adapt to their surroundings
-culture provides norms, values, certain behavior
-it affects how you perceive reality (perception vs response)

Culture is not written bit it’s their and is important you know it.

Democracy (is also tolerance)
What is Uncertainty of Avoidance?
Governments don’t like uncertainty
-a society that is MORE ORDERLY is more acceptable to democracy by on that is SPONTANEOUS.
What is future orientation?
Some societies put emphasis on new ideas, research, etc.
-other societies are history oriented, talk and bring up the past.
Why is competitiveness a big deal?
Issue of world economics
What does a competitive society have?
Strong economy = less corruption
-less competitive = less corruption
Collective vs individualistic societies

What is human orientation?
Societies provide assistance to needy, health care, welfare, etc.
-those who do provide tend to be more society oriented.
What is performance orientation?
Assess and perform, societies open to assessment are more tolerant, open to innovation.
