Q

What are the two main ways to connect resistors?

A

Series - resistors connected end-to-end, same current, different voltage, Rₜ=R₁+R₂+…+Rₙ
Parallel - resistors connected across each other, same voltage, different current, 1/Rₜ=1/R₁+1/R₂+…+1/Rₙ

Q

What is a voltage divider?

A

A voltage divider splits an input voltage across series-connected resistors. For two resistors, V₁=Vᵢₙ x (R₁/R₁+R₂) and V₂=Vᵢₙ x (R₂/R₁+R₂)

Q

What is a current divider?

A

A current divider splits an input current across parallel-connected resistors. For two resistors, I₁=Iᵢₙ x (R₁/R₁+R₂), I₂=Iᵢₙ x (R₂/R₁+R₂)
