Lecture 2 Flashcards
What are some common types of resistors?
Through-hole, surface mount, wire wound, and carbon film resistors.
How are colour-coded resistors typically marked?
With 4 or 5 coloured bands to identify resistance value and tolerance.
How do you read a 4-band resistor?
1st and 2nd bands are numbers, 3rd is multiplier, 4th is tolerance.
What is Ohm’s Law?
Voltage = Current x Resistance
What are the formulas for electric power?
P=VI
P=I²R
P=V²/R
What are the two main classifications of circuit components?
Active components and passive components.
What is the difference between AC and DC signals?
DC (direct current) signal exhibits only positive or only negative values. AC (alternating current) signal consistently exhibits both positive and negative values.
