what is a hazard?
anything that could cause harm.
a hazard is the potential to cause: human injury, property damage, environmental harm and a combination.
what is the 3 elements of risk?
- the likelihood that a hazard will actually cause harm- that is, fulfill its potential.
- the severity of any possible harm is also considered as part of risk- the impact of the hazardous event.
- the number of people who might be exposed.
what is a risk assessment?
a careful examination of what, in the workplace, could cause harm to people, so that the employer can weigh up whether he or she has taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm.
what is the written commitment by management?
to safeguard: safety and health of employees while they work.
safety and health of other people who might be at the workplace, including visitors and members of the public.
