3 theories to pubic hair
- trap pheromones
- protection to friction
- visual sign, indicates sexual maturity
labia minora
hairless; join with clitoral hood; contains the bartholin’s glands
bartholin’s glands
secrete mucus to lubricate entrance of vagina; can become infected;
components of clitoris
- clitoral shaft (2 corpora cavernosa)
- glans (part that is visible)
- clitoral hood
what does the clitoral hood covers
exposed part of the shaft and most of glans
clitoris
highly innervated. shaft mostly hidden. the most sensitive part, can be uncomfortable when not aroused
3 types of genital mutilation
clitordectomy
excision

FGM type I; removal of the clitoris
