Hospitalist
Specialist in inpatient medicine - who will be responsible for managing the care of hospitalized patients the same way that primary care physicians are responsible for managing the care of outpatients

What is special/different about hospitalist?
First speciality based on patient location as opposed to organ system
- Present in hospital 24/7
Hospitalists also tie into concept of 4 competency domains
Teamwork Domain
- Team includes consulting physician(s), advanced care practitioners, nurses, case managers, social workers, and pharmacists
In the hospitalist team, Individuals have particular tasks based on their particular specialties, but they depend on each other for situational awareness and goal success strategies.
What is Situational Awareness?
Situational awareness is a common, accurate understanding of the patient’s condition, needs, clinical trajectory, and feelings based on the multiple perspectives of team members.
