What is the NZDep?

A

Is a measure of socio-economic deprivation within an area

- runs of a scale from least deprive 1 to most deprived 10

Is good health distributed evenly in New Zealand?

A

NO - people who have low SES & a high level of deprivation tend to always be less healthy and have a high mortality rate - short life expectancy
- Maori and PI have low SES and so have poor health
