Lecture 2: Gross Motion Flashcards
1
Q
Anterior Landmarks
A
- Head position
- Acromion
- Iliac crest (T4)
2
Q
What are the bodies physiological curves?
A
Adult spine has 4 normal Coronal curves:
CERVICAL are convex forward - “Lordotic curve”
THORACIC are convex backward - “Kyphotic curve”
LUMBAR are convex forward - “Lordotic curve”
Fused Sacrum is convex forward
Technically speaking- lordosis and kyphosis refer to pathological states
3
Q
Posterior Landmarks/Assessment
A
- Inion (Back of the head)
- Mastoids
- Acromion
- Spine of scap (T4)
- Inferior angle of scapula (T7)
- Iliac crest
- Gluteal lines
- Popiteal lines
4
Q
Lateral Assessment (Khyposis/ Lordosis)
A
5
Q
Lateral Landmarks
A
- External ear canal
- acromion process
- greater trochanter
- midpoint of knee
- anterior to lateral malleolus (foot)
6
Q
What is anterior postural deviation?
A
Body leans forward, anteriorly, deviating from the plumb line. Weight =supported by metatarsals
7
Q
Posterior Deviation Posture
A
- Body leans backwards deviating posteriorly from plumb line
- Balance is maintained by anterior thrust of pelvis & hips
- Marked lordosis from mid thoracic spine down
