Heat transferring through direct contact.
What is convection?
Transfer of heat through the mass movement of fluid.
What is radiation?
Transfer of energy in the form of EM waves.
Where does most of the earth’s heat come from?
Solar radiation
What is “radiative equilibrium temperature”?
The average earth temperature is the difference between heat energy transferred to the earth (solar radiation) and heat energy lost (IR emissions).
Based on radiative equilibrium temperature, what should earth’s average temperature be? (vs what it actually is?)
Should be 255 K but is actually 288 K.
