Feminist Theory
Examines the social and cultural context of violent intimate relationships.
Largely focused on the impacts of gender inequality, sexism, and patriarchy (a social system in which men hold power while women hold less or no power)
Social rules within patriarchal societies
encourages men to be dominant and women to be submissive
“men’s dominant social status in political leadership…men have more social power and control relative to women. This dynamic is reflected in men’s intimate relationships…in some cases becoming abusive in nature”
