a tort is a violation of civil law: can be guilty of tort if you harm a patient, like administering wrong dose of medication of a type of medication

a wrong against society
serious crimes are called felonies and punished with long term
less serious crimes are misdemeanors
Accountability
commitment to stay current and knowledgeable : asking for assistance when unsure
Standards of Care
Nursing standards are defined in nursing procedure books, institutional manuals of policies and procedures of protocols
How many hours of continuing school is needed to renew a license
30 hours every two years
(does not apply to the first license renewal following the initial issuance of a license)
