• lactate dehydrogenase (cytosolic enzyme, works in both directions)
• results in 2 lactate and 2 ATP (from glycolysis)
• Occurs when there is a defieciency in oxygen (ex. from working out)

• Yeast & some plants
• Two enzymes: pyruvate decarboxylase and alcohol dehydrogenase
• results in 2 ethanol, 2 Co2, 2 ATP (glycolysis)
