Where mature mRNA strand is used to get double stranded DNA

What is a microarray?
A
Collection of multiple DNA spots on a solid surface. Used to measure expression of certain genes as they can be coloured and compared to amount in another DNA sample.

DNA fingerprinting vs DNA profiling?
A
They’re the same thing

What can DNA fingerprinting or profiling be used for?
A
Comparing DNA and genes of different individuals and so can be used to show family relationships

What is karyotyping?
A
Pairing all the chromosomes in an organism so that they can be looked at

What is FISH?
A
Fluorescent in situ hybridisation.
Label probe DNA with fluorescent dye and attach to DNA strands. Allows for “chromosome painting”.
