Israel treasured possession - priestly kingdom, holy nation. Personal property of the King, set apart, representing God to the world. God’s law and social order. Dispersal and return. Prophets speak of eschatological gathering

Jesus’ mission to eschatologcially resotre God’s people and through them all the nations to Adamic vocation. Jesus Mission is seed of church and her mission. Kingdom has come but not in it’s fullness. Jesus brings:
* New Covenant relationship with God
* Forgiveness of sin
* Gift of the Holy Spirit
* So we may live as church - a new way of life as God intends eg Sermon on the Mount
