Lecture 1: Network Models Flashcards
What is a Network?
A network is a group of computers or devices connected together in such a way as to allow users controlled access to shared resources.
What are the advantages to a Network?
- Users can share data quickly and efficiently.
- Access to shared Peripheral devices such as printers, scanners and fax machines.
- Groups of users to exchange information and share data.
- Easy and effiecient communication among individual (email)
- Easier administration.
- Reduced costs through resource sharing.
What are the three levels in a Network Structure?
Core - Distribution - Access
What are the 7 layers of the OSI model? (All People Seem To Need Data Processing)
Application - Presentation - Session - Transport - Network - Datalink - Physical
