A
- Was one of the first people to apply psychology to advertising in 1903
- Also introduced psychological testing to the military along with Robert Yerkes

A
- Considered the Father of IO psychology
- Studied psychology and industrial efficiency in 1913, during the time of terrible factory conditions
- Considered a novelty at the time to hire people with the intention of training them for a specific role

Theory X vs. Theory Y
A
- X - very traditional, inherently believes that all workers are lazy, distrustful and don’t want to work
- Y - Workers want to work and are self-motivated, people work best when rewarded

A

- Stress studies
- Post-war benefits (applying these methods to the work culture)

- Not very accurate as the former employee doesn’t want to burn any bridges, so they don’t provide any useful or constructive feedback
- Better to perform interviews with current employees and ask for improvements on the company
