Maharaj et al. stated that the 3 challenges of integrating physio’s into primary health care organizations were:
- Diversity and novelty of new phyio’s role: Physio role shifted from one-to-one treatment to group programming and taking on admin duties making them uncertain of their roles
- Other team members understanding physio’s role in primary health care: Many had differing expectations of the physio’s role although they were friendly. Expected to be more one-to-one vs group programming
- Physio’s actions and values regarding primary health care: Physios needed to have strong communication, management skills, take initiative, advocate for physio role, risk taking, creative, flexible
