Q

What are the tree of life and its three domains?

A

bacteria, archaea, and Eukarya

  • Noting that archaea and eukarya share a mor recent ancestor than they do with bacteria

Q

What is referred to as the “molecular clock”?

A
  • selectively neutral changes in conserved regions
  • found in all organisms
  • small subunit (16s) RNA gene generally are highly conserved

Q

Why is size impoartant to microbes?

A

Size is important as SA to volume is key

  • the larger the radius, then the larger the volume will be thus making is harder to organism to exist with proper diffusion
  • larger cells need trick to increase SA
