Law (definition)
Organizes just behavior in a society
Substantive law (definition)
Substantive law is composed of legal rules that define the content of just behavior (rules of the game, organizing behavior)
Formal law (definition)
Formal law is composed of legal rules that maintain substantive law (consequences for when substantive law is violated, maintaining the intended behavior)
Public law (definition)
Law that regulates the relation between a government and its citizens
Private law (definition)
law that regulates the relation between citizens or those who act as citizens
