we think fo truth as unchanging and singular… buddhism is one of the religions that do not subscribe to this! truth as ONE thing is a colonial perspective– they look for one truth

by sir edward arnald (knighted based on this poem)
Poem published 1879 about the life of buddha
He had grown sick of his own culture/tradition and projected it onto buddhism all that he felt was missing
Many people tried to counteract/talk about the evils of buddhism based on this
The language of the poem is extremely christian! taking about buddhism but sounds like praising jesus and christian language
Views the buddha as a S.A jesus

madame Helena Blavatsky (1831-1891) and Henry Olcott (1832-1907)
Believed that all of humanity was governed b some spiritual universal law and individual religions ar just getting PARTS of the truth
they were devastated by the state of religion (materialistic) and wanted hints back on track
