Q

Describe the societal challenges facing IoT

A
  • Privacy: You produce data which can be an invasion of your privacy.
  • Surveillance: Be used to monitor people - ethics.
  • Security: Vulnerabilities making it easy to hack with little to no security standards. Common IoT devices with a security flaw can potentially be hacked in mass

Q

Describe the technical challenges facing IoT

A
  • Sensor: Physical limitations
  • Power consumption
  • Security & Privacy: Flaws in design can lead to loopholes in bulk items (lead to attack)
  • Data analytics: Computing power and skill gap
  • Standards: Varying standards and issues of interoperability (vendor lock-in)
