Lecture 1 Flashcards
Ac advantages
Sustained at high voltages for long distances. Stepped up or down using transformer. 120V or 240V
Difference between ac and dc current
Dc:flow of charge in one direction, fixed polarity, can be steady or vary in magnitude. Loses power over a mile due to decreased voltage drop.
Ac: polarity reverses or alternates, varies in magnitude between polarity reversals
Reynolds number
Re= (mean velocity x density x diameter)/viscosity under 2000 is laminar over 2500 is turbulent
Electrocution are the blank most common in U.S.
5th
