Should PT’s do vitals?
Yes
NOTE: We will be tested on BP, Respiratory rate, Oxygen Saturation, Pulse Rate
If I’m suspecting ____ I would proably take temperature
Infection
KNOW: if the pts symptoms are above the EOP (most headaches, espically if I don’t have an origin) do a neural screen (quick) and below gluteal fold
How is Babinski sign taken?
Examiner uses some object and gently strokes the bottom of the foot
Positive = big toe going up and others fanning out (normal is for toes to go down)
Normal in 2 and under
How is hoffman sign taken?
Examiner holds the person’s hand and supports their middle finger while allowing the other fingers to hang freely
The examiner then flicks or taps the nail of the person middle finger
A positive hoffman sign is noted if the person responds with an involuntary and rapid flexion movement of the thumb and index finger
How is the inverted supinator sign performed?
Series of taps on the styloid process of the radius
positive test = rapid finger flexion
What kind of patients should you do a fall risk assessment on?
Older
Neurologic issues
Lower exteremity pain
What are some balance assessment tools (tests)
FGA
TUG
CATSIB
