Lecture 1 Flashcards
Vector
Has magnitude and direction
Speed
Distance/time
Velocity
Displacement/ time
Instantaneous speed
speed at any one moment
Acceleration
Change in velocity/ time
How does blood change in regards to physics when it enters capillaries
velocity decreases and area increases when entering capillaries
slowing allows for gas exchange j
Displacement vs. time graph
slope is Instantaneous velocity
Velocity vs. time graph
slope is instantaneous acceleration, area is distance/ displacement (if below zero is negative)
What does negative acceleration mean
if velocity is positive, object is slowing down
if velocity is negative, object is speeding up
Newtons first law of motion
Inertia, an object at rest or in motion remains in that state unless acted on by a net force
Newtons second law
when a net force acts on an object, the change in state of motion is inverse to mass and directly proportional to force
F=MA
Mass
measure of inertia
Shows how much object will resist change in motion
Newtons Third law
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Normal force
Opposes movement of gravity.
Perpendicular to surface
Decreases when more steep, and less normal force means less friction
Mg sin theta
parallel to plane (X)
