oppositional defiant disorder:
-frequent and persistent pattern of angry/ irritable mood, arguing behavior or vindictiveness
common for ppl with ODD to display behavioral traits without having negative moods but typically they show anger behavioral features.

-angry/defiant/vindictive mood LASTING 6 MONTHS with 4 SX criteria (exclude sibling)
Angry:
-loses temper
-easily annoyed/touchy
-angry and resentful
Argumentative behavior:
-argues w/ authority figures or w kids
-refuses to comply w requests from authority figs or rules
-annoys others
-blames others for their mistakes
Vindictivess: spiteful 2x in last 6 months
-behavior associated w distress in individual or others
-not related to other subst.
intermittent explosive disorder:
-outbursts of anger/violence to the extent of rage that is DISPROPTIONATE to situation.
disproportionate rxn to any provocation
ex. impulsive shouting, screaming, excessive reprimanding
Intermittent Explosive Disorder:
a. recurrent behavioral outburst representing a failure to control aggressive impulses as manifested by:
-physical/verbal aggression toward ppl and animals 2X WEEKLY FOR 3 Months (doesnt result in injury)
-outburst toward ppl /animals that involve injury WITHIN 12 months
-outbursts grossly put of proportion
-outbursts are impulsive and have no intention of achieving anything such as money or power
-outbursts caused by distress, impairment of occupatiomal fxn, legal consequences
-avg age 6 yrs
-not attriubuted to another mental condition
ages 6-18, agressive behavior should not be considered bc of adjustment disorder
