A

When O is the last stem vowel and it is stressed , it changes to ue.

Ex: poder to be able

Other verb that undergo this change :
Almorzar, contar, costar, dormir, encontrar , llover , morir, recordar, volar, volver.

Note that stem vowel are not stressed in the verb forms used with nosotros and vosotros , therefore the o doesn’t change to ue.

A

Ser expresses a fundamental quality and identifies the essence of a person or thing.

Used with expressions of age that do not refer to a specific number of years.
ex: Amanda es hermosa y muy inteligente. Es joven (young) , pero es muy madura .

Used to denote nationality , origin and profession.
ex: Amanda es guatemalteca. Es de la ciudad de Guatemala. Es estudiante.

Used to indicated relationship or possession.
Ex: Amanda es la sobrina del Sr. Alvarez. Los discos compactos son de Amanda .

Used with expressions of time and date.
Son las cuatro y cuarto de la tarde. Hoy es miércoles, cuatro de abril.

It is used with events as the equivalent of taking place.
ex: la fiesta es en la clase de Amanda.
