Because it determines the health care output and life style pattern through interaction between individuals ,health care providers and clinical settings

1-important similarities between physicians and economists
2-differences between physicians and economists

6-escalating(increasing) health care cost

What is the similarities between physicians and economists?
1- recelistic approach to life’s problems( both are dealing with human)
2- reliance on quantitative information
3- choosing between difficult choices in the face of uncertainly
4- comparing between risks and benefits
The differences between the physicians and economists:
Physicians are often concerned about individual patient, economist are usually concerned about large aggregations such as: industries, organizations and institutions and governments and the whole society
How health economics is against the background of increasing demands and limited wants?
Health economics influences the medical decision
And it seeks to facilitate Decision making affording efficiency

1-quantifying resources
2-assess the efficiency
3-determining the consequences of choices
4-assets the choices of development
What is the priority ?
Ranking problems,solutions and needs in order of preference based on data and intelligent judgement
Factors to be into consideration while prioritizing :
1-prevalence of the problem(extend)
2-seriousness of the problem
3-availability of the affected measures to solve the problem
4-society concerns
What is the prioritization?
Happens when the resources aren’t adequate( as the situation is the same in all countries ) to simultaneously deal with problems, solutions and needs in the country
Major factors that drive the growth in spinding on health care services ?
1-increasing the role of government and insurance
2-mechanization of health care services
3-population increase in general and particularly elderly people 65+.
4-chronic diseases
5-life style factors
6-hospital care
7-cancer is on the up
Why there is an increasing in insurances?
Because:
1-health care services is a public good , UNIVERSAL COVERAGE
2-healthy people are certainly more productive INVESTMENT IN HEALTH
3-private market in health care services may not operate efficiently because its expensive and profit makers
What is considered to be leading contributor of the increasing in spending on health care services?
Buying medical technology and drug prescriptions
Why health expenses with age?
Because of CO-morbidity (more than 1disease per for one person)
That needs treatment and assistive machines

1-smoking
2-eating unhealthy diet
3-lack of exercise and physical activity

Hospitals try to attract patient by overspend on high tech equipments
