what is ELM?
ELABORATION LIKELIHOOD MODEL, Theory that receivers differ in their ability and motivation to process educational messages
how could we increase the ability of receive of the message by ELM
○ Straightforward
○ Repeated/ reinforced
○ Presented without distractions
how could we increase the motivation of receiving the message by ELM
○ Unexpected, novel, and/or memorable (e.g. humour)
○ Culturally appropriate
○ Personally relevant (e.g. “what’s in it for me?”)
○ Emotion-based

Message can be transformed in three ways:
