LEC 2: Eukaryotic Cells Flashcards
Located near the nuclear envelope of animal cells, they aid the animal cell in cell division
Centriole
Serves as the ‘digestive system’ of the cell that breaks down foreign materials and parts of the cell that are no longer useful
Lysosomes
Produces proteins for the rest of the cell
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
Where proteins from the ER are sorted to be transported by to other parts of the cell
Golgi Apparatus
Usually small and help to isolate waste
Animal Vacuole
Often, a single organelle that can take up majority of the cell, helps maintain water balance (bonded by tonoplasts)
Plant Vacuole
(Also holds waste within the cell)
Translates the transcribed genetic code into amino acid sequences
Ribosomes
