Question 1

How can genomic DNA be extracted using the same method as the one used to extract RNA?

Answer 1

Once the alcohol is added the PCR mixture will precipitate into different layers

1. aqueous upper layer (RNA moves up here)
2. interphase (DNA is found here)
3. Organic phase (proteins and other dissolved lipids are found here)

The interphase, containing the DNA, can be removed carefully during this step. And isolated by an alcohol wash.
