lec 1 Flashcards
hemodynamics
Blood flow in blood vessels
The heart is divided Anatomically
- 4 chambers (2 atria and 2 ventricles)
- 2 great arteries (pulmonary artery and the aorta)
- 2 AV valves
- 2 semilunar valves.
things that relate that to the left ventricle,
heart ECG, cardiac cycle and blood pressure
baby is born with congenital abnormalities
the right ventricle is excluded and the vena cava is connected directly to the pulmonary artery to sustain life.
least pressure is in
the right atrium.
highest pressure is in
the left ventricle
blood flow
how much blood is flowing per minute
blood velocity
how much blood is flowing per second
the surface area in arteries and veins is
small → blood velocity is high
the surface area in the capillaries is
very large → blood velocity is low
The distribution of the blood in the vessels is highest in
systemic veins and venules
