Learnings about human brain from AIML research Flashcards
What are thoughts ?
Thoughts are like electric currents. They have a starting point in brain. They travel through NEURONS of the brain. Trains can flow like trains. From one thought to another thought.
How thoughts are generated ?
Thoughts are typically created when mind-senses come in contact with external world objects.
Why thoughts ?
Thoughts are building blocks of how the universe is created. Thoughts convert raw energy into matter or transform matter. Since flow of energy is continuous our thoughts are continuous. We cannot stop thoughts. But we can put these back on God so that we don’t mess up further.
Our mind is continuously looking for rewards. So when certain objects or images comes in contact with mind-senses it tries to obtain these rewards by generating these thoughts. It either tries to learn from the situation.
What is end result of a thought ?
Experience is end-result of a thought. An experience in AIML field is defined as a set of state, action, reward and resulting state. State here is the environment. Action here could be thought or a physical action. Reward is what mind perceives as good or bad for itself. It either likes it or dislikes it.
Experiences leave imprints (memories) behind that takes form of Karma seeds.
What are grooves in mind ? (best policy)
repeated thoughts create a pattern of rewards. These then end up forming grooves in mind. These also create personality types. Behaviours. In AIML world its called a policy. A policy is a set of actions that leads to certain rewards. In AIML optimisation we arrive at a policy that maximises total expected reward.
How do you bring a change (in yourself) ?
A change can be brought by changing the reward system of the brain. Affirmations are one of the most effective way to change mental grooves. Decide a set of practices that you want to do. Then just focus on those activities and forget everything else. Slowly, you will find that your mindset has changed.
In our case, focus on keeping God in your mind as per Yogananda’s definition of God. Any activity you do keeping him in mind will slowly transform you. It’s as simple as this. So you are changing your reward system to please God instead of pleasing your mind.
Can you change others ?
No. Unless person wants to change himself you cannot. In order to bring a change you have to change your reward system. e.g. if your reward system is money and its not leading to best results then you may have to change it to let’s say happiness.
Why do we like to share ?
Mind loves to get confirmation and assurance of its rewards and understanding. So when it likes something, it likes to run it through other minds and validate. If others also like it then it feels reassured, satisfied and content.
