Learning objectives 1-8 Flashcards
How is matter conserved in the carbon cycle?
Same amount of matter exists before and after a change
What is the carbon cycle?
Cycle carbon moves through
Why is matter conserved?
Carbon is never lost
Flux examples
consumer/atmosphere, atmosphere/ocean, trees/atmosphere
What causes fluxes
Respiration, exchange, combustion
How is matter conserved in fluxes
Moves from one reservior to another does not just disappear
Stages of carbon cycle
Extraction (out form ground)
Combustion (into CO2)
Burial (goes into ground)
Exchange (atmo/ocean)
Photosynthesis (atmo-plant)
Resperation (plant-atmo)
Sedimentation (percipitation)
Sink vs Source?
Sink, more in than out/ source, more out then in.
Possible effects in altering?
More stuff for humans, mroe CO2 in atmosphere/ less producers, less photosynthesis/resperation
Greenhouse effect?
Some energy from sun radiates in atmo, some absorbed atearths surface, some reflected, infared energy earth out, heat gets trapped and can’t leave
5 greenhouse gases?
Carbon dioxide
Methane (not enough oxygen)
Water vapor (percipitates)
Nitrous oxide (denitrificaiton)
Cloroflucarbons (human made insulants)
Natural Phenomenon?
Yes, Carbon dioxide is still going into atmospehre through eruptions, resperation, forest fires, and exchange
No greenhouse effect?
Super cold due to less greenhouse cases in atmosphere to absorb and radiate infared heat.
