Learning & Conditioning Flashcards
Instrumental Conditioning or Operant Conditioning
A basic form of learning in which a subject learns to make a response that lead to a reinforcement (reward) or prevents a punishment.
Natural Stimulus (NS)
Elicits no salivation when presented by itself (bell).
Unconditioned Stimulus (US)
A direct stimuli that produces salivation (food)
Unconditioned Response (UR)
A reaction such as salivation caused by an unconditioned stimulus such as food.
Conditioned Response (RC)
An automatic response established by training to an ordinarily neutral stimulus (bell).
Conditioned Stimulus
The conditioned stimulus is a previously neutral stimulus that, after becoming associated with the unconditioned stimulus, eventually comes to trigger a conditioned response (bell).
Classical Conditioning or Respondent or Pavlovian Conditioning
Basic form of learning in which stimuli acquires the unnatural ability to evoke a certain response when paired with another stimuli.
