learning Flashcards
behaviorism
an empirically/ rigorous focused on observing behaviors and not unobservable internal mental process(external)
learning
the process of acquiring, through experience, new and relatively enduring information or behavior.
association
when a subject links certain events, behaviors, or stimuli together in the process of conditioning
classical conditioning
a type of learning in which one learns to link two or more stimuli….
Operant conditioning
(behavior)[ a type of learning in which behavior is strengthened it followed by a reinforcer or diminished it followed by a punisher.
Positive reinforcement-
a stimuli that, when presented after a response. Strengthens the response
shaping
an operant conditioning procedure in which reinforcers guide behavior towards closer and closer approximations of the desired behavior
Negative reinforcement
a negative reinforcer is any stimulus that, when removed after a response, strengthens the response.
extinction
the loss of human response
Partial reinforcement-
reinforcing a response only part of the time: result in slower (increases addiction) acquisition of a response but much greater resistance to extinction then does continuous reinforcement
cognition
our thoughts, perspectives, and expectations. (not just behaviorism)
latent learning
learning by observing others.
modeling
the process of observing and imitating a specific behavior.
