classical conditioning

The use of a neutral stimulus, originally paired with one that invokes a response, to generate a conditioned response.
Classical conditioning is a form of learning whereby a conditioned stimulus becomes associated with an unrelated unconditioned stimulus, in order to produce a behavioral response known as a conditioned response.

A technique of behavior modification, developed by B. F. Skinner, that utilizes positive and negative reinforcement and positive and negative punishment to alter behavior.
