Set up by the TofV which was signed by all nations
had 58 members by the 1930s
Could use the international court of justice to settle disputes
Could apply trade sanctions on countries that went to war

Was set up by the TofV which all nations hated
Had no Army
USA, Germany and Russia were not members
All decisions had to be unanimous
Evidence of success
Helped to return half a million prisoners of war after WW1
Supported measures against leprosy and malaria
In 1925 Greece obeyed the leagues ordered and pulled out of Bulgaria
Evidence of failure
In 1932 Japan conquered Manchuria after the league objected then pulled out of the league in 1933
Italy invaded Abyssinia in 1935 which the league condemned
