What were the aims on the League of Nations
To keep world peace by dealing with disputes between nations

How was the League organised

What was the Peacekeeping role
The main duty was to solve any disputes that may occur, and it was hoped that this could be achieved by negotiation. If there was an act of aggression which could result in war, the league would take action against the aggressor; this happened in three stages:
-Moral condemnation
-Economic sanctions
-Military force
What was the permanent court of international justice
The court was based at Hague in the Netherlands and was made up of judges who represented the different legal systems of member countries. It gave decisions on disputes between two countries, but had no way of enforcing anything.
What was the international labour organisation
This existed to bring about the league’s aim of improving working conditions around the world. Workers and employees met up each year to set minimum standards and persuade members to adopt them.
What was the Secretariat
The civil service that carried out work and administration of the league.
