Without it, people’s talent may be wasted and may rapidly lose ground to competitors

A group will have a chain of responsibility, regular procedures and targets
Collaboration will be very important

Within a group they will have their Wien psychological needs. The leader has to work out where encouragement is needed and where penalties may be required. Will have an impact on employee motivation

Democratic leader
Paternalistic leader
Autocratic leader
Take top-down decisions without consulting employees to find out their views. Thy may provide very little information on the reasons for the decision
Democratic leaders
Guide rather than dictate, consulting widely and encouraging everyone to participate in the decision-making process
Paternalistic leader
Behave rather as a parent might in making family decision. They consult at every level and explain their reasons, but take the final decision themselves
Theory X managers
Assume that their employees are lazy and prefer to be given firm direction with strict controls. Managers need to be closely supervised, with strict rules and regulation and incentives to make them work effectively for the organisation
Theory Y managers
Assume that human being want to work and will commit themselves to work effectively without strict controls. They will accept responsibility and use their initiative to help solve problems
Theory X managers
Have little enthusiasm for work
Avoids making any great effort
Little ambition
Lack responsibilities
Theory Y mangers
Enjoy their work
Strive to contribute to the success
Respond when given responsibility
