What is Leadership
It is the process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal
What is Transformational Leadership
It is when one or more people engage with others in such a way that leaders and followers raise one another to higher levels of motivation and morality
What is spiritual leadership
It utilizes values and a sense of calling and membership to motivate followers.
What is adaptive leadership
It is when leaders encourage followers to adapt by confronting and solving problems, challenges and changes.
Explain Leadership as a trait or Trait Leadership ?
It is a property or set of properties possessed in varying degrees by different people.
Explain Leadership as a Process or Process Leadership
It observes leadership behaviours and can be learnt.
What is Assigned Leadership
It is leadership based on occupying a position within an organization. Eg, team leaders, departmental heads, directors, and plant managers.
What is Emergent Leadership
It is when an individual is perceived as the most influential member of a group or organisation regardless of the individual’s title.
What is Power?
It is the capacity or potential to influence or affect others’ beliefs, attitudes, and actions.

What is Referent Power?
Refers to the ability of a leader to influence a follower because of the followers’ loyalty, respect, friendship, admiration, affection, or desire to gain approval.
What is an expert power
It is power based upon employees’ perception that a manager or some other member of an organisation has a high level of knowledge or specialised set of skills that other employees or members of the organisation do not possess
What is legitimate power
It is power derived from a formal position or office held in the organisation’s hierarchy of authority
What is reward power
It is the power of the manager or leader to give some type of reward to an employee as a means to influence the employee to act.
What is a coercive power
It is the ability of a manager or leader to force an employee to follow an order by threatening the employee with punishment if the employee does not comply with the order.
What is information power
It is derived from possessing knowledge that others want or need

What is position power
It is derived from office or rank in an organisation. Examples are legitimate power, reward power, coercive power , and information power
What is personal power
It is influence derived from being seen as likeable and knowledgeable. Examples are referent power and expert power.
