Leadership and Management Flashcards
What is scientific management?
Decision making and problem solving based on gathering the necessary information and data, and then analysing this, in order to make well-informed choices.
Steps to scientific decision making
Where are we now?
Where do we want to be?
How do we get there?
What is Intuitive thinking management?
Making decisions and problem solving that are based on instinct and experiences, rather than scientific methods such as logic, empirical evidence, and data. It is based on people’s knowledge, insights, gut feelings, instinct, an inner voice, or faith.
Leader vs manager
Instructions and orders from managers are listened to because they come from an official position of authority. Leaders are, however, listened to because they want to listen, through motivation and inspiration to execute actions. They focus on people rather than tasks.

What are SMART objectives?
Peter Drucker’s framework for setting organizational objectives, which must be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
