Leadership is the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization.
Trait Theory
1.We are born with traits that make us leaders
Behavior Theory
Can learn to become a great leader by your actions and behaviors
Transformational Theory
People will follow a leader that inspires them. Task importance motivates people. Collaboration is better than working individually.
Work toward a ‘greater good’.
Transactional Theory
- that people are motivated strictly by reward and punishment
- Transactional leader is highly focused on task
- When a subordinate fails, punishment is often next step.
