Laissez -fair
Permissive, nondirective, passive
Allows people to choose what they want to do and how they will do it. This works best when all members have the same education level & leader performs the same task.
Can lead to the group feeling lost and frustrated becuase of lack of direction from the leader
- not a good idea if people aren’t educated and know what to do
Democratic
All aspects of the process shared by the group
Time consuming and inefficient when members disagree.
Leadership listens to input from the group to make a decision
Hallmarks of democratic
Trust, collaboration , confidence, and autonomy
Authoritarian
Provide direction by giving orders w/o question
Autocratic is the overseer and delegates how and when to do things
Micro manages & followers feel fearful and harbor hostile feelings..
Useful in code and crisis situation

Help ppl w life issues , thinks you and not me , thinks long term
Takes time to develop trust

Nurses need to feel goal directed and feel that their contribution is important so they can feel motivated for work
